TIKorea Annual Meeting
Annually, Transparency International Korea Chapter (TI Korea) holds a general meeting with its members and supporters.
This year, we held the general meeting at a building adjacent to our office – Saint Francis Education Center, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea. The event was joined by over thirty members and supporters, including TI staff members.
TIKorea Annual Meeting started at 7:00 PM in a second floor of the said education building. A well-equipped meeting hall has been prepared for the event, which took about one hour and a half.
The following is the flow of the general annual membership meeting: Opening, Pledge of Allegiance, Opening Remarks/Greetings (Moon Hong-Ju, TI Korea Acting Chairperson), Inspirational Talk (by Kim Sang-Geun, Advisor), Outstanding Members Conferment of Awards, Presentation of the Report, Adoption of the Program, and other important matters including: audit report, activities report and 2015 TI Korea’s budget, among other things presented.
New Chairperson
Sometime in the middle of last year (2014), TI Korea was headed by an acting chairperson (Moon Hong Ju) until last Tuesday (February 24, 2015) when the Board members decided to elect two co-chairpersons – Moon Hong Ju (former Board Member and acting Chairperson) and Lee Seon Hee (former professor, etc). Both have been strong supporters and are active members of TI Korea since the organization was established in 1999.
The former chairperson, Kim Geo-Sung, who served as TI Korea’s chair in the past (almost) eight (8) years until the second-half last year, also joined the meeting. He is at present serving as the Inspector General of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
New Board members
During the meeting, two newly endorsed and elected board members have also been congratulated, namely: Paek Seok-Geon and Han Jong-Man. Both offered words of gratitude for their election and shared their hopes and conviction to promote a more transparent and better society.
A group photo was held right after the meeting and all attendees were invited for a dinner at around 8:30pm in a Korean restaurant just across the meeting venue.
